Since the COVID-19 virus hit our state, we have paid close attention to information coming out on a national and local level. That includes information from our state and local government officials, as well as the information coming from the CDC and the Coronavirus Task Force. As a result, we’ve made changes in how we are working to protect you and our employees.

Update as of March 30:

  • Effective March 31, cashiers will no longer be able to accept cash or check payments at the drive-thru windows. These payments must be made at payment kiosks (listed below). Cashiers will be able to answer any questions you have regarding your account. Night-drop will still be available.
  • Disconnects have been temporarily suspended through April 30. This is to ease the blow of those members who are out of work, or unable to work, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, and to make sure members have electricity during this critical time. This is NOT designed for members to avoid paying their bill. Members are still responsible for their bill. By suspending disconnects, we are just allowing members to pay their balance at a later date. We encourage members to pay as normal if possible as to not build up a large balance that will have to be paid all at once. Members with traditional post-pay accounts can make a payment arrangement to pay their balance up to 30 days later. However, a 5% late fee will apply to past due balances.
  • Tri-County EMC lobbies are closed.
  • Daily work activity is limited to essential services. We will continue to respond to outages, maintain our call center and address reliability issues. New construction, including new services, will happen on a case-by-case basis.
  • For the safety of our employees, we will have reduced staffing at each office.
  • Operating hours are 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Tri-County EMC knows this is a stressful time for everyone. Rest assured, we’ll continue to provide you with the reliable, dependable electric service you are accustomed to. We urge you to take precautions for the health and welfare of your family as well. Please continue good health habits such as washing your hands and sanitizing frequently touched areas. We also encourage you to practice social distancing. Tri-County prepares for a variety of crises. While this isn’t an outage situation caused by a major storm, our emergency plans are updated frequently, and we feel confident in our ability to keep your lights on while keeping you and our employees safe.

Cooperatives cherish having local contact and a personal touch. But for now, we are grateful to be able to connect with you virtually. As a Tri-County EMC member you can monitor your energy usage online, complete an online energy audit in an effort to lower usage, and you can pay your bill online, over the phone, on the myTCEMC app or at a payment kiosk. None of these options require you to visit our office.
