Due to high temperatures and high electric demand across the southeast today, Tri-County EMC will operate the No Sweat load management system on Saturday, August 23 from 2 PM until 7 PM. Tri-County EMC does not typically operate the No Sweat system on weekends or holidays and the system has only been operated on weekends three times in the last five years. Most participants should notice little if any difference in comfort as the system only interrupts the central air conditioner for about seven minutes at a time. "This is not a decision we make lightly," commented Greg Mullis, senior vice president. "We understand that more folks are home on weekends. But this program is designed to hold down future power costs. Our wholesale power rates are set by how Tri-County EMC peaks coincide with peak demand for the state and southeast region. If we don't operate the system and we end up setting a peak hour today, it will cost our members tens of thousands of dollars in future power costs." Anyone experiencing any problems with a No Sweat load management switch is encouraged to contact Tri-County EMC at 478.986.8100 or 1.866.254.8100.
