Pay Your Way
With prepaid billing, you pay for electricity how and when you choose, the same way you buy groceries or gasoline. Purchasing electricity before you use it allows you to control your budget and pay how much you want, when you want. And there are no security deposits or late fees. Instead of a monthly statement, your usage and balance are calculated daily. Track your usage here on our website or by installing our free app, myTCEMC. Enroll today by calling a customer service representative at 478.986.8100 or 1.866.254.8100.
How Does It Work?
You purchase electricity before you use it. Make payments when you want to, online, over the phone, or in person at an office location or kiosk. When your account runs low, you will get an alert by phone, text or email, letting you know it is time to recharge your account.
What if my account runs out?
If funds in your account run out, electrical service will be automatically disconnected. You will be notified by phone, text, or email, that your service has been cut off. You can recharge your account at any time, day or night, online, by phone or at a kiosk and service will be automatically restored within thirty minutes. There are no disconnection or reconnection fees.
What Does It Cost?
With pay•your•way, each kWh costs 10.1¢, the same as Tri-County’s average residential energy charge. The monthly minimum charge is $40, compared to $30 for traditional accounts. The additional $10 pays for specialized equipment and services such as account alerts. Residential accounts must be 200 amp to qualify.
Businesses with 200 amp, non-demand, single-phase accounts are eligible to participate. Your meter must also be capable of accepting a disconnect collar, which will be determined by Tri-County EMC personnel. The energy charge for the program is 13.4 cents per kWh and the monthly charge is $39.50 or $1.30 per day.
How Do I Get Started?
New customers will pay a $5 membership fee, a $25 account establishment fee, and purchase a minimum of $50 in energy. That’s it. No deposits are required. Existing customers with a traditional account may convert to prepay billing at any time. Any deposits on your existing account will be credited toward account balances or to your prepay account. Existing members with account balances can use the debt-recovery program. Each time you make a payment, a portion will go towards the outstanding balance. No deposits, no late fees, and you choose when you pay
Who Can Participate?
All 200 amp accounts qualify. Not sure if you qualify? Simply contact a Tri-County EMC representative for assistance.
