A Holiday Message from Ray Grinberg, CEO, Tri-County EMC

At the end of each year, I, like many of you, like to take the time to reflect on the last 12 months. While this year brought continued challenges due to COVID, we were able to accomplish great things.

First and foremost, we established Tri-CoGo, a broadband fiber internet company with plans to make internet services available to all Tri-County EMC members. The service is already available for members in certain areas of Jones County, and Tri-CoGo crews continue build the fiber lines and necessary infrastructure to deliver service to our entire service area. More information on the buildout schedule can be found at www.tri-cogo.com

These fiber lines will not only give us the opportunity to provide internet service to our members, but will also give us enhanced tools to improve reliability and help us reduce power outages in our area. Also improving reliability, we have maintained our aggressive right-of-way program, making sure our power lines are clear of vegetation that may cause outages.

Since January, we have awarded $10,000 in scholarships to local students and $58,550 in Operation Roundup Grants to fund special projects in our community. We will end the year by awarding $30,000 in grants to local teachers to execute classroom projects. And the best part of these community efforts is that these programs are funded through members voluntarily rounding their bill to the next dollar or from unclaimed capital credits – none from the general budget.

We are looking forward to 2022 and the many great things to come. As always, the safety of our members and employees is our top priority. A safe and happy holiday season is our Christmas wish for you!
