On April 23, Tri-County EMC’s Board of Directors appointed Chap Nelson to fill the Post 2, District 1 board seat vacated by the retirement of longtime director, Chester Mercer. Nelson will begin his service at the May board of directors meeting and will fill the post until the director election at the cooperative’s annual meeting in October.

Mr. Nelson is a lifelong resident of Jones County, with deep roots personally and professionally in the county and in middle Georgia. Nelson has spent a 25-year career in nursing and nursing center administration. He is currently the administrator of Autumn Lane and Gray Health and Rehabilitation. His broad community involvement includes founding and coordinating the Chaptacular Chainsaw Carving Bash, a fundraiser benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Nelson has served as a member of the Jones County Board of Commissioners and the Jones County Development Authority. He is a member at Bradley Baptist Church.
