Tri-County sent two 2-man crews to Monroe, GA this morning to help restore power to Walton EMC members after an ice storm struck their area Monday night.

As of 9:30 AM Tuesday, there are approximately 115,000 EMC members in northeast Georgia without power. Crews are making significant progress and have restored power to thousands of cusomers.

Major damage and substantial ice accumulation occured in Forsyth, Hall, Gwinnett, Dawson, Lumpkin, Cherokee, Pickens, Jackson, Banks, Rabun, Stephens and White counties. Most EMCs estimate all power will be restored within 24 hours.

Temperatures above freezing kept the Tri-County service area from experiencing any ice-related outages.
