Landon Hewett, a recent graduate of Jones County High School, was recently awarded the Lineman Scholarship from Tri-County EMC. He plans to attend South Georgia Technical College in Americus this fall to complete the electric lineman training program.

“A lineman who comes in and helps restore power may seem more like a superhero," said Hewett. "I want to become a lineman so that no matter what day or time it is, or what kind of weather I may be facing, I will be able to put my skills to work and help people and communities in need.”

"Like many trades, being an electric lineman is very much a tradition and a way of life," said Kim Broun, Manager of Energy Services. To honor that trade that is the backbone of the power business, Tri-County EMC established a Lineman Scholarship Program.

Each spring, this scholarship will award $3,000 to an individual to allow them to complete the lineman training program through the Technical College System of Georgia. This scholarship allows Tri-County EMC the ability to invest in a local student while also investing in the future of the electric industry.
