Each year, Tri-County EMC awards $6,000 in scholarship funds through the Cooperative Scholarship. Three students from the Tri-County service area each received a $2,000 Tri-County EMC Cooperative Scholarship in May. Funds were awarded based on academics, financial need and a demonstrated commitment to the community in which they reside. The Tri-County EMC Cooperative Scholarships are funded by House Bill 431, which enabled unclaimed capital credits to fund local education. The next Cooperative Scholarship deadline is April 15, 2019. Katie Pounds, Jones County:
Katie recently graduated from Jones County High School and plans to attend Georgia Tech in the fall. There, she will study biomedical engineering and has a goal to promote STEM careers to young women across Georgia.
Jacob McMillian, Putnam County:
Jacob recently graduated from Gatewood School and plans to attend UGA in the fall. He plans to obtain a biology degree and attend medical school. His goal is to become a primary care physician and provide medical care for the medically underserved areas of Georgia.
Cameron Brown, Baldwin County:
Cameron is a graduate of John Milledge Academy and began classes at Georgia Military College in May. Cameron plans to obtain a business degree and earn his master’s degree. Ultimately, he wants to start his own sporting goods store and be a coach at the high school or college level.
