Decorative ImageDonald Appling, pictured right, vice president of construction services, retires on January 12 after 39 years at Tri-County EMC. “I’ve done some of everything - meter-reading, staking, working with crews, cashiering and even sweeping floors. I grew up here and I’ve seen a lot of changes. It’s been my home,” said Appling. “It will be a difficult transition to not hop in the truck to come to work when the lights go out, but I’m looking forward to retirement.”

Keith Brooks, current manager of safety and training, was selected to fill the role. With background as a meter-reader a lineman and a safety manager, Keith will bring a wealth of knowledge to the position. Keith started as a meter-reader and worked his way to being a lineman. He worked with Georgia EMC, training EMC employees around the state. He joined Tri-County EMC in 2013 and has transformed the safety and training program. Outside of EMCs, Keith is also a fireman and trained as a first responder. “I’ve enjoyed working with Donald these past few years, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of stepping into this role,” said Brooks.

In his new role, Keith will manage the linemen, ensure the power lines are maintained, oversee the right-of-way maintenance and coordinate the cooperative’s safety program.
