Tri-County EMC utilizes a state-of-the-art “smart” metering system for all residential and almost all commercial meters. The system allows two-way communication, through the cooperative’s power lines, of meter readings, detailed usage and power quality data.

The current meter reading system is Tri-County EMC’s second automated system and represents a $1.8 million investment in automated metering technology (AMI). Since a computer actually "reads" the meters, the possibility of human error is removed from recording your monthly usage, meaning the greatest possible accuracy for your billing. By eliminating the labor and expenses associated with a fleet of meter readers, our automated “smart” meters are a much more cost effective and environmentally friendly method of registering your electrical usage.

As highly calibrated electronic devices, your electric meter is extremely accurate. The odometer type reading on the face of your meter exactly reflects the usage indicated on your electric bill at the time it is read, making it very easy for you to track your energy usage.
