If Your Power is Off
First check your breaker box or fuse box to make sure the outage isn't due to a tripped breaker. Then try to determine the extent of the outage. Call your neighbors and see if their power is out too. If the power outage is due to a problem outside your home call the TriCounty EMC office 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. When you call please have the following information ready:

Extended Outages
Catastrophic events like ice storms can cause widespread outages that may continue for an extended period of time. It's wise to have back up plans in place to cope with an extended outage. Follow these tips to weather out a power outage:

Portable Generators
If you're using portable generators during a power outage, it is imperative that they are isolated from our lines. Generators of any size that are not isolated can feed back into our electrical system.
