Looking Ahead to the 2009 Annual Meeting
The 70th Tri-County EMC Annual Meeting is Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Gray headquarters office. Registration opens at 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 7 p.m.
Your annual meeting packet should arrive by Oct. 9. It will replace October’s Current Lines. It will feature the 2009 Director Candidates, ballot and mail balloting instructions. When you complete and return your ballot, you’ll automatically be entered in a drawing for ten $50 prizes or a $500 grand prize. <<

Co-op Conference Yields Leaders

Employee News
Tri-County EMC recently announced the promotion of three existing employees and an addition to the cooperative’s information technology team.
|
Donald Appling, a 31-year Tri-County veteran, was named vice president of construction services. He will oversee construction, maintenance, safety and training.
|
Lee Marsh was recently promoted to vice president of distribution services. Lee is responsible for the co-op’s engineering, mapping and the control center. He recently earned his professional engineer status.
|
Kim Judd, six-year systems analyst is now sr. systems analyst. He manages the information and communication systems while ensuring that Tri-County has implemented the most efficient equipment.

Jeremy Arant, started as systems analyst in August. He maintains the mainframe and personal computer network systems, helps with telecommunications, assures system security and lends technical support to Tri-County employees.

Bright Ideas Education Grants
Tri-County EMC offers up to $1,500 in grants to Pre-K through 12-grade teachers for innovative classroom projects. A total of $10,000 will be awarded in 2009. Apply by Dec. 1, 2009. <<

Funds for Nontraditional Students

Community Blood Drive
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Monday, Oct. 19 from 2 until 7 p.m. in the Tri-County EMC Gray office Community Room. We invite you to participate. <<

Energy Tip of the Month
Close in on window drafts.
1.) Caulk the cracks and gaps around window frames.
2.) Draperies can trim heat loss up to 10 percent. When windows lack direct sun, close the coverings for optimal savings.
3.) Plastic, interior storm windows installed over or affixed to existing panes are easy to install and easy on the budget. Apply them with tape, Velcro or snap-in seals. They can reduce heat loss by up to 50 percent.
4.) Use Energy Star® rated models if replacing your windows. (7338-01)
5.) Solar Heat Gain Coefficient measures how much heat from sunlight the window absorbs. <<
