Bright Ideas at Work
First-time Bright Ideas Education Grant winner Rachael Williams and her Gray Elementary Fourth Grade Class recently reported on their new document camera, digital microscope and weather station. "The children are thrilled by all that it does!" exclaims Williams of the newly purchased equipment. (72532-01)
These items enable the students to see their lessons more clearly as opposed to viewing blurred images through an overhead projector. "We really enjoy it," says student Sarah Grace Clegg. "We’ve been doing math problems, reading books and all sorts of stuff on it."

Energy Tip of the Month
Planning a summer vacation? Also plan to lower your energy bill while you’re
away.
Avoid standby power, or electricity used by electronics when turned off. Unplug TVs, DVD players, phone charges, etc.
Bump up your air conditioner’s thermostat to 80–85 degrees. Use your water heater’s vacation mode or the lowest possible setting while you are away.
Keep your refrigerator at the current setting. It will use less energy while you are gone as it is not being opened. (38922-01)
Use timers for indoor and, or outdoor lights. <<
