Our Energy, Our Future
A Message from C. Hill Bentley, CEO

Across the country, electric cooperatives are beginning an initiative called "Dialogue With America." I want to have this same dialogue with you. It’s time to provide straight answers to the tough questions that we all must ask as we build for the future. It’s time for political correctness to be put aside and accept the urgent call to action to provide new generation and transmission resources necessary if we are to continue to enjoy affordable and reliable electricity. >>>

A May to Remember

Spring came in "like a lamb" in March. But, Mother Nature has made up for it in the month of May. It started Mother’s Day with a tornadic storm cell moving through middle Georgia. Then the follow up came on Tuesday, May 20. Then came Saturday, May 24. Listed below are the damages caused by each storm. >>>

>> Crew members assess the damage to power lines and broken poles along Stagecoach Rd. on Mother’s Day. <<

Did You Know? ...

America’s rural electric co-ops have two main responsibilities: keeping the lights on and maintaining affordable rates while complying with energy and environmental laws.

Energy Tip of the Month

The summer vacation season is here. Before you leave for your trip, make sure your electric bill also gets a break.

1.) Set your thermostat to 85 degrees. If it is a programmable thermostat, set it on the "vacation" or "hold" mode.

2.) Computers, televisions and other electronics use electricity when they are not on. Unplug them before leaving.

3.) Turn the water heater’s temperature down to the lowest setting. Many water heaters have a "vacation" setting for this purpose. Leave a reminder to adjust it back to its original setting upon returning home. (26896-02)

4.) Adjust the refrigerator control to a warmer setting. If you are taking an extended trip, empty the fridge and turn it off, but leave the door open to prevent mildew.

5.) Pool owners should reduce the run time on the filter. <<
