Safety and Service, Top Priority for Tri-County EMC, Cont.

Setting business goals is really very simple at Tri-County EMC. First we believe in safety. That means safety for

our employees, our members and the general public. Then, we provide service. We were founded over 67 years ago to provide electric service to our members. Every other business objective supports these two goals.

With any goal, you must have a system to evaluate your effectiveness. To that end, Tri-County participates in GEMC’s statewide safety program and in NRECA’s national Rural Electric Safety Accreditation Program. Every three years, GEMC and NRECA evaluate our program with on-site inspections and an examination of our records to insure compliance with regulations and documentation of accidents. I am extremely proud to report that Tri-County scored 96 percent overall in the inspection completed in August. This score represents the highest mark ever for your cooperative.

Kenneth Brubaker, manager, NRECA Safety Programs, said “Your commitment to these safety efforts sends a clear and consistent message for your employees and your members. The goal of the Safety Accreditation program remains to preserve life and to prevent injuries, to establish electric utility safety and loss control standards, to recognize you and your people who work everyday to maintain a safe work environment and to compliment your mission of reliable electrical service for your members.”

Add service to our members to the mix, and you have a solid business plan. Tri-County has a simple, direct approach to service . . . “Service P.R.I.D.E.” First and foremost, your employees are “Professionals.” We stand “Ready” to serve 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We recognize that all members have “Individual” needs and strive to handle those needs professionally and efficiently. We “Deliver” what we promise. And, we work to “Exceed” our member’s expectations. (1914-01)

When we achieve these goals, then you, the member, are the beneficiary of the results. Your cost for electricity is lower and your service needs are fulfilled. What more can you ask for a successful business plan?
