Operation Roundup Comes to the Aid of Fire Victims
This summer was not one to remember for two local families who witnessed their homes and valued possessions ablaze and reduced to ashes. However, welcomed relief came in August through Tri-County EMC’s Operation Roundup funds.

The first award of $4,500 went to New Damascus Baptist Church to assist a family of four who lost everything they owned to fire in June. “I can’t even imagine how the family will feel when they hear the news,” says New Damascus Baptist Church Trustee Mattie Middlebrooks of the grant. Funds will provide clothes for the family and assist with the cost of another home. “I know this family,” says Middlebrooks. “They have always been grateful for what they had, but know they will highly appreciate what you (Tri-County EMC) have done for them and so do the members of Damascus Baptist Church.”
The second award touched the lives of a family of four who discovered their home had burned upon returning from their daughter’s hospital visit one evening. The Foundation granted $4,000 to assist with furniture, household items and to help secure another place to live.
“This family has been struggling for the past several years with a daughter who has been very ill,” said Gray United Methodist Church fund administrator Pastor John Haney. “The community has come together to help them at their greatest time of need.”
