Clearing Pathways to Reliable Service

>>
We understand the value our members place on receiving uninterrupted electric service. That’s why we have a right-of-way program, which prevents trees from causing outages, or trees, brush and foliage from causing delays during service restoration efforts.

>> Trees and shrubs planted in the
right-of-way can interfere with providing you reliable service.  <<

Tri-County EMC continually treats rights of way by selectively applying herbicides and trimming only the brush that could interrupt your service. Only nonrestrictive, nonresidual herbicides are applied to brush every four years. Trimming will be done system-wide.

This year, Tri-County EMC will apply herbicide to rights of ways in the western portions of Putnam and northern portions of Jones and Baldwin counties. (See map on page 1.)

As the illustration below indicates, members must allow a 30-foot clearance on their property, and a 15-foot clearance on either side of primary lines, the uninsulated high voltage distribution lines. If you have a tree planted in the right-of-way, we encourage you to transplant it to another location outside of the right-of-way. If our right-of-way crew comes across this scenario, we will make every effort to notify you prior to cutting trees that have the potential to threaten our power lines. Planting trees or shrubs under power lines will only interfere with  the delivery of reliable service. For questions regarding right-of-way, call Jerry Greene at (478) 986-8124 or 1-866-254-8100, ext. 8124.  <<
