Is Your Home Total Electric?

Since notifying our members of the January 2005 rate restructuring, we have discovered that a number of customers were not aware of the availability of a Total Electric Rate. We are also aware of several instances where builders initiated service in the wrong rate. We believe every member has a shared responsibility with the cooperative to ensure that their account is on the correct rate. We have relied upon our members to tell us which rate their home qualifies for, either through a direct mail reply card at the inception of the rate in 1995, or when new customers applied for service.

Did You Know?

Findings from a recent study by the U.S. House Resources Committee and the Energy and the Mineral Resources Subcommittee indicate that U.S. power plants account for less than 1 percent of global mercury emissions and that mercury emissions in the U.S. have significantly decreased.

Energy Tip of the Month

Need a new light bulb? Before replacing it with a standard incandescent bulb, stop and consider the savings a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) offers. CFLs can save you around 75 percent in energy costs compared with standard incandescent bulbs. These cool-to-the-touch lamps can even outlast standard bulbs up to 10 times. (25170-01)

Before you shop for CFLs, inventory the wattage you'll need for each bulb that needs to be replaced. Then, reap the savings your CFLs will bring.
