Meadows Places First at District Contest
>> Putnam County High School Junior A.J. Meadows won the District EMC/FFA Electrification Career Development Event (CDE) held at Camp John Hope in Perry on December 9. Meadows received a $400 scholarship and a plaque for his efforts in winning the contest. He competed against 10 others from the central portion of the state and, as of press date, will advance on to the state finals January 15.
The contest is not new to A.J. He competed last year and participated in a workshop under the guidance of FFA Advisor D. J. Sheppard and alongside classmate Rodney Redd in 2002.
Through Meadows' efforts in this three-part contest, he learned how to safely wire, deliver an effective presentation and even discovered a little history about electric cooperatives. The Electrification CDE also helps the FFA chapters to reinforce what has been learned in the classroom. The Electric Membership Corporations of Georgia, including Tri-County EMC, sponsor the annual contest. (46354-01) << |
