Tri-County Scholarship Winners Selected
>> In June, Tri-County EMC awarded three scholarships to local high school seniors. The three $1,000 Tri-County Cooperative scholarships will benefit these students as they head to college this fall.
An independent panel of retired teachers reviewed and scored applications based on academics, financial need, community involvement and autobigraphical summaries. Jessica Ross of Jones County earned the scholarship for District 1 representing Bibb, Jones and Twiggs Counties. She plans to attend Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah and become a physical therapist. Jessica recaps her volunteer experience at Piedmont Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center, "There is no feeling greater than to know that your hard work, time and dedication have made a difference in someone's life."
Hanna Carswell received the scholarship for District 2 encompassing Jasper, Morgan and Putnam Counties. Hanna will attend Berry College this fall and major in communications. She notes, "My entire life I have had a passion both for reading and helping people." Hannah earned both the Girl Scout Silver and Gold Awards with her community improvement projects.
Caleb Dunnam is the recipient of the scholarship for District 3 including Baldwin and Wilkinson Counties. He will attend the College of the Ozarks and is considering law, mass communications or political science. The latter two majors Caleb is considering were a direct result of his participation in the 2003 Washington Youth Tour.
Caleb believes, "To earn respect as a leader, you must gladly serve others." He plays a variety of musical instruments and enjoys sharing his talent with others. Caleb devotes much of his time to community service projects. <<
